YEAR 7
Starting Well

Head of Year 7
Our College Open Evening will be held on Thursday, 21 May, and students across all year levels are encouraged to assist in promoting the College. One important role students can fulfil is that of a tour guide for visiting families.
We recognise that our students are our greatest assets, and many families will remember the welcoming and positive atmosphere created by our students at previous College Open Evenings. Students wishing to be involved as tour guides must attend one of the scheduled training sessions to be eligible (Thursday, 14 May or Tuesday, 19 May).
Students can register their interest by completing the Google Form sent to them by email on Tuesday, 5 May.
In Term 1 Religion, the Year 7 students explored the communities they belong to, including their new community at St Mary’s Catholic College. They examined the values, hope, and faith of Jesus, and how these are reflected in everyday life.
In Term 2, the Year 7 Religion assignment will focus on their exploration of the Ten Commandments. Students will write a Letter to God about one of the Ten Commandments, reflecting on its relevance to the relationship between God and humankind, as well as how it can guide them in living a life faithful to God’s will.
For any concerns or queries, please contact our Head of Religion, Mrs Maddie Byrnes, at mbyrnes1@cns.catholic.edu.au.

School fees and levies for Term 2 were issued via email on Wednesday, 6 May 2026. The due date for payment is Wednesday, 20 May 2026.
Please contact the Accounts Team if you are a fee payer and you have not received a copy of your emailed statement.
The Accounts Team is also available to assist families who may wish to set up an approved payment plan, if full payment by the due date is not possible.

The Australian Government’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is rolling out a new national emergency warning system: NEMA AusAlert. Prior to testing the system in June and July this year, we are required to share this information with the families in our College community.
Please refer to the following websites for more detailed information:
These resources provide more detailed information about the system, how it works, and what to expect during the upcoming testing period.
