GIHS Cross Country Carnival Report:-
What a fantastic afternoon of Cross Country running!
The annual GIHS Cross Country Carnival took place yesterday afternoon at the pristine Standing Stones area in our community. It was wonderful to witness the impressive efforts from across the entire student body. A massive thank you to the local council for their invaluable assistance in marking out the track and for their help with the pack-up. We also extend our gratitude to all staff members who contribute to organising such a well-run and efficient event year after year.
It is heartening to see the growing number of parents attending the event as spectators each year. The importance of being physically active for our well-being is something we all recognise, and it was a joy to see students running, jogging, and walking the track happily yesterday. We appreciate the support of parents and carers who encouraged their children to participate, regardless of their level of competitiveness.
Results:
• 12's Boys Champion: Leelan Gibson - an impressive run, placing him right up in the ranks.

Opens Champions: Kayden Elliott and Maddie Tarrant - Maddie has consistently excelled in long-distance running at GIHS, and it’s fantastic to see her earn this title in year 11. Kayden is our Overall Carnival Champion, running at a pace that inspires us all, breaking his own record with a new track time of 11:32. He was also awarded King of the Corner and King of the Mountain.
Additional acknowledgements included a Leadership Award for Rory Husband, who crossed the finish line in 6th place and, after a quick recovery, completed another lap to support a fellow student. The Spirit of the Carnival awards went to Leelan Gibson and Angus Templeton for their outstanding running efforts.
Congratulations to the HOUSE WINNERS....SINCLAIR!
