Article 7:  Grievance

  • Are you aware that any OGEA member can file a grievance?
  • You don’t need an officer’s permission to enforce your contract.
  • It is a good idea to inform your site representative and/or the grievance team if you decide to file a grievance over a contract violation.
  • Make sure you hold an informal grievance meeting first with your direct administrator and document the meeting in an email.
  • Make sure you read Article 7 and follow the timelines closely.

Article 15.5 Combination Classes

  • Are you aware that OGEA members who teach a combination class receive release days and a stipend?
  • Each combination class teacher receives a $1400 stipend.
  • You are entitled to 3 release days per year for preparation and planning.  These are your days and not directed by administrators.
  • Are you aware that SDC teachers similarly receive 3 release days per article 15.9?
  • Release days are subject to substitute availability.  Make sure you put in for your release days well ahead of time.

Article 12: Compensation

  • Are you aware that OGEA members received a 4% raise this school year?
  • Our raise is cumulative with the 4% raise we received for 2022-2023 and the 5.5% raise from 2021-2022.
  • OGEA members are scheduled to receive a 5% raise next school year.
  • Special education stipends:  Are you aware that SDC, RSP, SAI and SLP unit members receive a $1500 annual stipend? (articles 12.5.14 and 12.8.2.3)
  • All work should be paid work.  If you are working outside of your contracted hours, make sure you are receiving the correct stipend or the hourly rate of pay in article 12.

Are you aware that, as an OGEA member, you are part of a democratic organization that helps determine the rules you are employed under in your collectively bargained agreement?  You get to give input into the bargaining process, vote for OGEA leadership to direct bargaining, and vote on whether or not to accept the bargaining agreements.
