Bell Times

Our school day starts with a locker bell at 8.53am for students to gather their books and head to class. The day is split into five hour-long periods, with a 35-minute lunch break.

Period 1: 8:55am -9:55am

Period 2: 9:58am -10:58am

Recess: 10:58pm – 11:13pm

Period 3: 11:18am -12:18pm

Lunch: 12:18pm – 12.57pm

Period 4: 1:02pm – 2:02pm

Period 5: 2:05pm – 3:05pm

Student absences or late attendance must be reported to the relevant sub-school.

Personal Property

REMINDER – the Department of Education (which includes Glenroy College) does not have personal property insurance for staff and/or students.

Items of personal property that are lost, stolen or damaged at school or during school excursions are not the responsibility of Glenroy College or the Department. Staff and students are reminded not to bring items of value to school or on school excursions.

School Privacy Policy

Our school collects, uses, discloses and stores student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy.

We ask parents to also review the guidance on how we use Microsoft 365 safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using Microsoft 365 please contact the school.

Ambulance Policy

Please be aware of the following information as per the Department of Education & Training’s website.

Emergency medical situations

If a student is ill or injured, in an emergency a school may:

call an ambulance or
call for any necessary medical attention on behalf of the student’s parents.

The legal authority to do this arises from the principle of “agency of necessity”. This means that the law recognises that the authority to act on another’s behalf is implied in case of emergency.

An ambulance will always be called in a medical emergency.

Ambulance Cover/Costs

We strongly encourage parents to have up-to-date ambulance cover and also inform parents that they are responsible for any medical expenses such as ambulance costs incurred if their child is injured or requires an ambulance at school, or whilst participating in a school activity.

Department of Education and Training Victoria (DE&T) Policy

Please note as per DE&T policy, the cost of any medical attention or ambulance for a student will be borne by the parent/guardian. Parents are liable for all medical expenses incurred as a result of student injury, including transport costs such as ambulance or air ambulance costs.
