Message from the Principal

A wonderful term of learning, connection and community

As we come to the end of another busy term, it is hard not to feel an enormous sense of pride in what our students have achieved. Across the College, we have seen wonderful displays of student learning, creativity, resilience and, perhaps most importantly, community.

The Arts and Design Expo was a wonderful celebration of the imagination, skill and persistence of our students. Our Cake Decorating Competition showcased creativity of a very different kind, while Wear It Purple, R U OK? Day and Pink Ribbon Day provided important opportunities for our students to show care, kindness and support for one another. Even our Twins Dress-Up Day reminded us that school can be a place for joy, laughter and simply having fun together. These moments might look different on the surface, but each reflects something important about who we are as a community.

Our Year 12 students are starting to wind things up as they approach the final stretch of their secondary schooling, with the end of their time at Glenroy College now firmly in sight. At the same time, our VCE students are moving into exam preparation in earnest, with the focus and intensity of their final weeks beginning to build. It is an exciting, and sometimes challenging, time of year, and we encourage our senior students to remain focused, look after themselves and make the most of the support around them. There is still plenty to achieve, and we look forward to seeing them finish the year with pride, determination and a strong sense of accomplishment.

Alongside all of this, we are also quietly moving forward with something that will shape Glenroy College for many years to come – the redesign of around half of our school. While the process can sometimes feel slow, there is a great deal happening behind the scenes as we work through the planning and design of our new learning spaces, including a new STEM building and upgraded Technology spaces. These will provide our students with contemporary environments designed to support creativity, collaboration, practical learning and the skills they will need for the future. There is still a way to go, but it is exciting to see the vision for our College gradually taking shape.

None of these opportunities happen without the incredible support of our families, and I would like to thank you for the encouragement you continue to provide our students. I also want to acknowledge our staff, whose energy, commitment and willingness to go above and beyond create so many of these memorable experiences. Most of all, thank you to our students. Your creativity, courage, enthusiasm and willingness to have a go are what make Glenroy College such a vibrant place to learn.

I hope everyone enjoys a well-earned break over the school holidays. Take the opportunity to rest, recharge and spend time with family and friends. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in Term 4 refreshed, renewed and ready for another great term of learning.
