Relieving Principal's Message

What a wonderful first week at Granville East Public School! I feel very fortunate to be back with this amazing and welcoming school community. I have especially loved visiting classrooms and seeing wonderful learning in action. I've also had lots of students visit me in the office to share their great work with me.  Thank you to the GEPS community- students, families and staff-  who have welcomed me with such warmth.

I have only been here a week, but there is so much to celebrate.

Our Book Week Parade was a huge success. It was wonderful to see the incredible effort that went into the many creative costumes worn by both our students and staff. A special highlight was seeing our playgroup children also take to the stage, joining in the fun and excitement of the day. Thank you to our families and staff for helping make Book Week such a memorable celebration of reading and imagination.

We are also incredibly proud of our Girls League Tag Teams, who will compete in their semi-finals on Friday 28 August. Congratulations to the girls on reaching this stage of the competition. We wish them every success and know they will represent GEPS with pride!

There are plenty more exciting events ahead:

Monday 31 August – Kindergarten Excursion

Our Kindergarten students will head off on their much-anticipated excursion to Calmsley Hill City Farm. We hope they have a fantastic day filled with hands-on learning, new experiences and plenty of farmyard fun.

Wednesday 2 September – P&C Father’s Day Stall

Our wonderful P&C will once again host the Father’s Day Stall, giving students the opportunity to choose something special for the important people in their lives. Thank you to our P&C volunteers for the time and effort that goes into organising this much-loved event. I am sure they would appreciate any extra help- if you are in the school on Wednesday morning, please consider coming to help the team.

Wednesday 2 September – Stage 2 Story Squad Persuasive Writing Incursion

During the interactive 1 hr workshop, The Alien Invasion Persuasion, students will become “Earth Experts” and work together to persuade a group of curious aliens about life on Earth. Through drama, role-play, discussion and collaborative activities, students will develop their persuasive speaking and writing skills while exploring topics related to sports and nutrition.

Friday 4 September – Stage 1 Science Incursion

Stage 1 students will enjoy an exciting Science Incursion, providing another opportunity to explore, investigate and learn through engaging hands-on experiences.

Across the coming weeks, our Semester 2 Learning Conversations will also commence for our Year 6 and Kindergarten families. These conversations are an important opportunity for students, families and teachers to discuss student progress, achievements and learning goals as we continue through Semester 2.

Monday 14 September – Gimbawali Performance

Our Dance Team and Senior Choir will proudly represent GEPS at Gimbawali. Our students have been working hard in preparation, and we wish them the very best for their performances. We know they will make us proud!

Thursday 17 September – Stage 3 Mini Fete

Stage 3 students are already busy planning and preparing for their Mini Fete. This is always an exciting event and a wonderful opportunity for our senior students to develop their teamwork, organisation and leadership skills while creating a fun day for the school community.

It is certainly shaping up to be another action-packed few weeks at GEPS. I look forward to seeing our students continue to learn, participate, perform and proudly represent our school in the many opportunities ahead.
