Principal's Message

Dear Sacred Heart Community,

As we dive into the final week of our Colour Run Fundraiser, there’s still time to boost our efforts and rally together! With only five days left, our school community has currently raised $4,800.00. While this is a wonderful start, we are a little short of our $10,000 goal. The original target was based on an average of $60 per student, and achieving this would enable us to make significant financial support towards the upgrades required for our outdoor multi-court.  I encourage every family to consider a last-minute fundraising push. Remember, every single contribution makes a difference, and it would be wonderful to see our community reach this target together. A heartfelt thank you to all the families who have already registered and especially to those who have exceeded the goal. Let’s make this final stretch count!

Another exciting event on our calendar is the Official Opening and Blessing of the Catherine McAuley Arts and Contemporary Learning Precinct. This important milestone will take place on Thursday, 14th November, beginning at 2:15 pm. We are honoured to have Bishop Shane Mackinlay and our Executive Director, Kate Fogarty, with us to bless and officially open the new building. In addition, we are delighted to welcome back Ms. Pauline Hindson, whose legacy at Sacred Heart is fondly remembered by many in our community. The opening will be held in the quadrangle, and while seating will be limited, we encourage parents who are available to attend and share in this special occasion. It promises to be a memorable event as we celebrate this wonderful addition to our campus.

We’re also thrilled to announce that the Quadrangle Shade Sail Replacement project has been completed! The installation took place over the weekend, and students were met with delighted smiles and "wows" when they saw the vibrant new shades in Sacred Heart’s colours. With warmer days upon us, the sails provide a much-needed sun-smart area for our students to enjoy during their breaks. This improvement truly adds to the vibrancy and functionality of our school’s outdoor spaces.

Today marked another key moment as we welcomed our incoming 2025 Foundation students for their first session in the Readiness for School Transition Program. It was wonderful to see these young students enthusiastically beginning to engage with our Foundation Team and get a feel for “Big School.” While the students were involved in classroom activities, parents attended an informative session presented by our expert panel, including Dr. Herath Wataliyadda (Pediatrician), Rebecca Monk (Dietitian), Taylor Rokahr (Occupational Therapist), and Lauren Cook (Speech Pathologist). The panel shared valuable insights on how we can partner with parents to ensure a positive start to their child’s learning journey here at Sacred Heart.

Finally, let us keep our Sacramental children in our prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation and Eucharist this Sunday at Sacred Heart Parish Church. This is a significant step in their faith journey, and our entire community supports them during this special time.

Wishing everyone a wonderful and blessed week ahead!

God bless,

Jamie McDowall
