VCE Melbourne University Immunology Excursion

Last week, our biology class had the incredible opportunity to visit Melbourne University for a day of hands-on learning. We examined fruit flies under microscopes to observe how their physical traits can vary, and we carried out a test to detect flu antigens using enzymes colour changes, a process used in real medical laboratories.

This experience really helped me connect what we’ve been studying in class to real-world applications, which has been and will continue to be valuable for our upcoming SACs and the final exam. I feel very fortunate to have had this opportunity, as it not only deepened my understanding of biology but also gave me a clearer insight into future pathways in science and biomedicine.
