Dear St Francis Xavier Families,
It's hard to believe we are already half way through the year, and while every week is a busy week, the last couple have been particularly hectic - but in an engaging and positive way. It's been heartening to see how excited the children have been about the various events and activities recently provided by the school such as preparing for First Communion, the Showcase, the school disco , Year 3/4 camp and Student Wellbeing Day.
FIRST COMMUNION
A huge congratulations to Charlie, Jett, Mia, Patricia, Selena and Thomas on receiving the Sacrament of Eucharist last Sunday. Their application and enthusiasm preparing for First Communion has been exemplary. Once again my sincere thanks to the candidates' families for their support and to Mr Brendan and Miss Debbie who plan and organise the sacramental preparation with such care. We extend our gratitude to Fr Jude for his facilitation of the mass.
CLASS MASSES
All our classes have participated in a class mass at the 9:15am weekday service. I have received some lovely emails and comments from parishioners who have mentioned how much they enjoy the morning masses when the children are present, especially their singing. Fr Micheal made a point of letting me know he thinks we have "wonderful kids" and added how impressed he was with our Preps and Year 1/2s meaningful responses to his questions.
WHOLE SCHOOL PRAYER
Our next Whole School Prayer will be in Week 1 of Term 3, Friday 17th July at 8:50am.
TERM 3 FAITH FOCUS
For the first few weeks of Term 3 we are facilitating a whole school focus on getting to know our patron saint St Francis Xavier. Classes will also be exploring how his faith, values and talents contributed to building relationships and teaching people about God. They will use these learnings to determine how they influence and impact our lives and the lives of others in contemporary society.
89.9 LIGHT FM
Our students often comment on and ask about the music I use for Whole School Prayer and masses, especially the songs that have a pop/rock feel and a few parents have enquired about particular songs. A few years ago I accidentally discovered 89.9 Light FM a radio station that offers uplifting, family-friendly entertainment and positive messages throughout the day. It provides an encouraging outlook, faith-based values, and great mix of music, with content suitable for both parents and children. Whether you're on the school run, at home, or travelling together as a family, Light FM is a wonderful way to enjoy inspiring content and music. Light FM also incorporates mainstream music edited so the language is child-friendly.
Warmest wishes and God's blessings.
