Upcoming Holy Week Events

During this sacred season of Lent, we celebrate prayer in many different and meaningful ways across our school. As the term progresses, we will come together to commemorate Holy Week through the telling of the Easter Story, led beautifully by our students. The classroom teachers will send out more details closer to the day that your child will be involved in.

  • Our Year 3 students will be learning about how Easter is celebrated around the world and will proudly display their work in the corridors for all to enjoy.
  • Tuesday 24th March, our Prep and Year 6 students will share their interpretation of Palm Sunday.
  • Wednesday 25th March, Year 5 will guide us reverently through the Indigenous Stations of the Cross.
  • At our whole school End of Term Mass on Wednesday 1st April at 9:30am, Year 2 will lead us in song linking to prayer in the Garden of Gethsemane. Following Mass, we will gather together and share lunch together as a symbolic “Last Supper” before the end of term. This will be led by our Year 4 students.
  • Finally, on Thursday 2nd April, just before dismissal, our Year 1 students will send us into the holidays with a fun song celebrating Easter.

Religion in Year 1

It was my pleasure to teach a relgious education lesson to 1H this week. The students listened beautifully to the story of the Last Supper and showed great curiosity and respect as we explored its meaning. They then made thoughtful connections to their own lives, sharing the different ways their families gather for meals. We discussed the kinds of food they share, who joins them at the table, and why sharing a meal together is such a special and important time for their families. They then spent time illustating a meal in their workbooks.

I also had the pleasure of joining 1C for their morning prayer circle on Wednesday morning where we listened to Miss Cochrane read the Creation Story from the bible. We got to pray together as a class and then reflect on our favourite creations and shared them with each other. What a beautiful way to begin a day of learning, thanks Miss Cochrane!

Gospel Reflection - Sunday 8th of March

Third Sunday in Lent

❤️Family Connection

Lent is a season for repentance. It is a season during which we are called to reflect upon and to live deeply the promises of Baptism.

Take this opportunity to reflect upon the importance of Baptism with your family. If you have photos or other mementos of your family’s Baptisms, bring them out and take some time to recall the day of Baptism and its importance to you and your family. Create a prayer table that includes these mementos and a bowl of holy water.

🙏Pray Together as a Family

Loving God,

As we journey through the third week of Lent,

help us to turn our hearts back to you.

Teach us to be patient and kind,

to forgive as you forgive,

and to grow in love each day.

May this Lenten season shape us to be people of hope and compassion.

Amen

May God bless,
