Art and Technology Semester One Wrap

It’s been a busy semester for Art and Technology staff and students. Alongside the standard classroom projects and assessments students have enjoyed some special exhibition experiences.
Year 10 Photography students and year 9 Media students had numerous class excursions to practice the craft of photography across the CBD and Parkville.
Several classes across the middle and senior school had some time out of the classroom through excursions to the Season of Excellence 2026. Melbourne Museum showcase the annual Top Designs exhibition which featured design forms and folios from 2025’s high preforming students in VCE studies that include Media, Product Design, Systems Technology and Visual Communication Design.
Other excursions saw students visit the National Gallery of Victoria to see Top Arts, which included a range of art forms from last year’s high performing students in Art making and Exhibiting and Art Creative Practice.
These invaluable viewing experiences helped students in the lead up to subject selections for 2027. For those keen to continue their study in art and design these exhibitions offer an affirmation of the successes possible through a commitment to passion for creative studies.
Our Booeegigat students also celebrated the end of semester with our first Art and Design exhibition at the Lonsdale street campus in the final weeks of Term 2. Displays included art and design from Art, Media, Systems (STEAM), Product Design and Visual Communication Design. Works on show included film posters, traditional illustrations and paintings, 3D printed sticky tape dispensers and weaving alongside collaborative sculptural art installations, including The Leftovers.
The enthusiasm of Year 9 staff and students (many of whom pitched in to help hang the show), led to a successful display of studies undertaken on the first part of 2026.
As we move towards a well-earned midyear break the Art and Technology teachers and Art and Technology Education Support staff would like to thank all our hard-working students for genuine commitment to their creative studies. We look forward to a productive semester 2 and the annual Year 7-9 and year 10-12 Art and Technology exhibitions later this year.
