2026 Orientation Morning

On Tuesday 9th December, our College will have our Orientation morning for students to meet their 2026 teachers.

On this day, Primary Years students will start their school day as normal, with their current 2025 classroom teacher. Orientation will take place during the first two sessions of the day. During these sessions, students will spend time with their 2026 teacher and classmates in their new classroom.

Parents, you are welcome to attend the Primary Years that afternoon from 3:05-3:23pm where you will have the opportunity to meet your child’s 2026 Classroom teacher. The Primary Years teachers will be on the turf outside the staffroom to meet parents at this time.

Please note, there will also be a further Meet the Teacher opportunity at the start of Term 1, 2026. More information regarding bookings for this will be communicated via Compass.

Primary Years Award Ceremonies

Our annual Primary Years Award Ceremonies will be held in the Furze Fitness Centre (Gym) in Week 10. Please the the dates and times below:

Thursday 10th September 2025

Year 6 - Session 5 (2:00pm to 3:00pm)

Friday 11th September 2025

Prep - Session 1 (8:45 to 9:45am)
Year 1 & 2 - Session 2 (9:45 to 10:45am)
Year 3 & 4 - Session 3 (11:15 to 12:15pm)
Year 5 - Session 4 (12:15 to 1:15pm)

These awards aim to recognise students’ achievements throughout the year. Students who continue to strive to be the best they possibly can be while upholding our College Vision, Values and Culture.

At the Prep Awards ceremony, all students will receive an award in recognition of their learning over their first year at school. More information will go out to families via Compass.

At the Year 1 to 6 Ceremonies, the following awards will be presented.

Endeavour
These awards are presented to students who have demonstrated the College Values, and effort and improvement to achieve their personal best in their Class or Specialist subjects.
Academic Excellence
These awards acknowledge students who have demonstrated outstanding academic achievement in English, Mathematics or a particular Specialist subject area.

If your child is receiving an award, you will receive notification via the PY Awards event on Compass.

Semester 2 Reports

Teachers are currently completing students' Semester 2 reports. Semester 2 reports will be released to parents and carers on the afternoon of Wednesday 17th December 2025 via Compass.

If you have any concerns or questions about your child's learning, please contact your child's teacher to organise a mutually convenient time for a phone conversation or a face-to-face meeting.

HGC Food Drive

We would like to invite you to participate in our Christmas Food Drive on Thursday December 4th, 2025.

All donated food will be given to a local community food pantry, which is preparing Christmas hampers for families experiencing financial stress.

Please take a look at the suggested items listed below. You are welcome to donate one item or several; anything you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Please hand in any item(s) in a paper bag to your classroom teacher by Wednesday, December 3.

Suggested Donations:

Pasta or lentils
Rice or chickpeas
Christmas/sweet treats (lollies, jelly packets, cake mixes—non-melting items)
Savoury biscuits or snacks
Tinned tuna, salmon, or ham
Tinned vegetables or tinned fruit
Sweet biscuits (non-melting)
Coffee, hot chocolate, or tea
Cereals
Long-life milk, custard, or cream
Cordial, juice, or soft drink

Teacher Assembly Awards

We would like to congratulate Imogen Dixon, Jessica Laws and Georgia Carroll on moving from provisional registration to full registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching. Part of this includes partaking in an intensive inquiry into an interest relating to their teaching practice. The inquiry is presented to a panel including our College Principal, Anthony Stockwell. We are very proud of these three teachers and are very lucky to have them as part of our College community.
