Bill Turner Cup – Tenterfield

Gallery Image

Glen Innes High 15’s boys ventured to Tenterfield to take them on in the Bill Turner Cup competition.

After a tentative start in the first half, and a penalty shot for Loki, along with some good passages of defense and attack, the boys saw themselves behind 1-2.

After a few changes and great pep talk by coach Mr Wright, the boys came out blazing. The strong defensive line led by Atlan held Tenterfield out, Gus and Loki were exceptional in the mids with Mav and Lachlan constantly on the hunt up front. All the boys banded together and contributed well.

Hatricks to Lachlan Green and Leelan Gibson in the second half saw a final score 7-2 with a solid dominance in the second half.

It was fantastic to watch the boys grow in strength and team cohesion.

The boys will now take on Holy Trinity in round 2 in the coming weeks.

A big Thankyou to Tony Wright for his tips and knowledge shared with the boys.

Well done!

Today in Coonabarabran, we have a number of our students, both boys and girls, trialling for positions in the Greater Western Region Representative Rugby League teams.

Lloyd Newbury and Ethan Graham are representing the North West Rugby League squad as they trial for the Under 16s team, with Lloyd in the back row and Ethan as an outside back.

In the girls competition, Mary Arandale is trialling for a place in the Open Girls side in the centres, while Ella Bruce (back row), Mylie Doust (fullback) and Polly Voysey (halves) are all vying for selection in the Under 16s Rugby League team.

We wish all of our GIHS athletes the very best of luck today. No matter the outcome, this is a fantastic opportunity and a valuable experience — make the most of it and enjoy the moment!
