Principal Report

Welcome to Term 2 at Glen Innes High School. We are looking forward to another busy and rewarding term filled with learning, connection, and community engagement.

We were incredibly proud to see so many of our students attend the ANZAC Day ceremony, representing our school with respect and pride. Their conduct reflected the values we aim to instil at Glen Innes High School. We would also like to extend our sincere thanks to the Glen Innes Garden Club for their beautiful wreaths, which contributed meaningfully to the ceremony.

Our recent Transition Fair was a fantastic success, with a wonderful turnout from students, families, and the wider community. It was great to see future students and their families engaging in a range of high school experiences, including making cakes in mugs, participating in science experiments, exploring history activities, creating dice in TAS, enjoying a gym session, solving mathematics challenges, and even patting alpacas. We thank everyone who attended and contributed to such a vibrant and welcoming event.

Families also had the opportunity to learn more about our HPGE Extension Class for 2027, and we are pleased to share that Expressions of Interest are now open for all Year 6 families wishing to apply.

We are also looking forward to our annual Athletics Carnival next week and hope all students are excited to participate in the events and represent their house. Competition has been very strong this year, and while we celebrate students who place first, second, or third, it is important to remember that all participation points contribute to the overall house totals. Every effort counts. We have some fabulous house cups ready this year, and the overall winning house will be rewarded with a special House Cup to recognise their achievement.

In 2027, Glen Innes High School will celebrate 100 years of education and community. We invite all past and present students, staff, and community members to save the date of September 7, 2027. We are especially interested in hearing from past alumni, and look forward to what promises to be a truly special celebration of our school’s history.

As the weather becomes cooler, we would like to remind families that students are expected to attend school in full uniform each day. Hoodies and other non-uniform items are not permitted. Additionally, students attending excursions must be in full school uniform, and students who do not meet these expectations may be unable to attend. We appreciate your support in maintaining high standards, as wearing the Glen Innes High School uniform with pride reflects our strong sense of belonging and ensures we represent our school positively within the wider community.
