Jnr Netball Grand Final
On Tuesday September 1st, the Year 7 and 8 students competed in the CGSAV Junior Netball Tournament at the State Netball and Hockey Centre in Parkville. It was an amazing day filled with exciting games, great teamwork and plenty of fun.
For some students, it was their first time playing netball together, but everyone quickly gained confidence and developed new skills in passing, shooting and communicating on the court. All of the teams worked hard, supported each other and gave their best throughout the day.
Our team had an outstanding tournament, remaining undefeated throughout the day and showing fantastic teamwork and determination. We progressed through to the Grand Final, where we faced another MSJ team! It was an incredibly close game, with the scores remaining tight right until the end. Despite the pressure, the team continued to work together and never gave up, eventually securing a thrilling 13–12 victory.
It was a fantastic day of netball, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We are already looking forward to doing it all again next year!

Interschool Sports: CGSAV Soccer
Tuesday, August 18th was a sunny day; perfect weather for soccer! The girls and I had the opportunity to get to know each other better, playing with students outside of our typical classes and friend groups.
The game was both a fun and rewarding experience that saw us make it all the way to the final, where everyone worked their hardest to secure the win. It was a very close game, but unfortunately we lost in a penalty shootout. Despite the result, it was a fantastic day, and our team showed great support, encouragement, and sportsmanship towards one another throughout the competition.

State Schools Victoria Lacrosse Finals
On Friday the 28th of August, we had the opportunity to represent our school at the State Schools Victoria Lacrosse Finals. We had a strong day of competition, finishing second on the ladder and earning ourselves a place in the semi-final. We played well as a team and managed to win the semi-final, securing our spot in the grand final. Although we unfortunately lost the grand final, we were extremely proud of all the effort everyone put in throughout the day.

Victorian Snowsports Championships - Annabelle Dwyer
Recently, I had the privilege of representing MSJ at the Victorian Snowsports Championships, competing in both Giant Slalom (GS) and Ski Cross events. Despite extremely challenging weather conditions, including strong winds that nearly blew me off the course and lift closures that required competitors to hike up to the Ski Cross track, it was an incredible experience. Out of more than 200 competitors, I finished in the middle of the field, which I was very pleased with given the circumstances. Overall, it was a fun and rewarding opportunity, and I am proud to have represented MSJ. I am already looking forward to participating again next year.

Australian IRB Championships - Alexa Zimmerling
Year 12 student Alexa Zimmerling recently represented Williamstown Swimming & Life Saving Club at the Australian IRB (inflatable rescue boat) Championships at Southwest Rocks, competing against some of Australia's top surf lifesaving athletes.
Alexa achieved an impressive 13th place out of 132 competitors in the Open Female Rescue event and reached the quarterfinals of the Open Female Mass Rescue and assisting in the Masters Mass Rescue event, where the team finished 2nd.
IRB racing combines teamwork, speed and lifesaving skills in a fast-paced surf environment. Competing at a national level was an incredible opportunity, and a great experience in one of surf lifesaving's most competitive events.
Introducing the 2026 School Sport Victoria U14 Girls AFL Captain - Eliza Mayne
Year 8 Student Eliza Mayne was selected to play football in the 2026 School Sport Victoria U14 Girls AFL team. Currently serving as Newport Power's under 14s Captain, it is rewarding to know that all her discipline and commitment has been acknowledged. We hope this story of hard work may inspire other MSJ girls to follow their dreams and continue to strive for greatness!
