Grade 4 Report

Somehow, we are already nearing the end of Term 1! The children have settled into the rhythm of Grade 4 and the teaching team are enjoying getting to know them better.
Lots of hard work has been put in across the curriculum - writing persuasives, learning about fractions and decimals, and practising various ways to think while we are reading.
A highlight of recent weeks has been our history incursion- First Nations. First Fleet. First Contact. The children engaged really well with the presenter, Jan Wozitsky, to learn more about this era of Australian history. Jan relates stories from history as well as his own experiences having spent years visiting a range of First Nations communities around Australia. He taught some songs and showed various props to help children make sense of the information. Some students even got up to do an old-fashioned dance, which was very entertaining!
The incursion supports our History Unit for this term and gives us reference points for continued learning throughout the term. Students really enjoyed the incursion and probably have some stories they could pass on.
To finish Term 1, we still have some things to look forward to, such as the Community Sports Day (Whole School Event) and the Crazy Hair Day (gold coin donation for the Royal Children’s Hospital).
