Principal's Report

Thunderbolts Festival
Our school had a major presence at this year's Thunderbolt Festival thanks to our students and staff who came along and joined us. Our float looked amazing and our P&C worked hard at the stall in Alma Park. Thank you to all who helped with the float decorations and participated in the parade and a big thank you to New England Towing for the use of their truck.
Day for Daniel
A big congratulations to all the students and staff who dressed in red on Friday 30 October in support of the Daniel Morcombe Foundation. Over $230.00 was raised for the foundation. Well done everyone - what a great effort!
Teddy Bears Picnic and Grandparents Day
Our events at Uralla Central just keep coming... our Teddy Bears Picnic and Grandparents Day last Friday was such a success. Our secondary students planned and delivered workshops for our K-6 students and over 100 parents, grandparents and members of our community, under the incredible direction of Mrs Taylor. Thanks also to our food technology students for helping us to prepare and cater for this major event.
Year 10 Students to Commence Academy
As we move towards the middle of the term, our Year 10 students are currently wrapping up their junior high school lessons, culminating with a "Life Ready" program all next week. The Life Ready program provides students with real-world information and workshops about life after school. Next Friday 14 November will be our Year 10 student's last day in Year 10. They will commence their Academy classes on Monday 17 November. We will also welcome back our Academy II students on this day as well.
Year 6-7 Transition Day
Just a reminder to our parents of Year 6 students that we will hold our next and final Year 7 Transition Day here at Uralla Central next Thursday 13 November. Or 2026 Year 7 Year Advisor, Jess Burton, has worked with teachers to provide an exciting timetable of events. Our Uralla Central Year 6 students will join with other students coming to our school in 2026 from Rocky River, Kentucky and Bendemeer Public Schools.
2026 Swimming Carnival - Friday 13 February
We will hold our 2026 swimming carnival on Friday 13 February 2026 at the Uralla Pool. Please mark this date in your calendars. Parents are most welcome to join us on the day. More information will be provided closer to the date.
Under 16 Years - Social Media Ban
From December 2025, Australia will introduce a new minimum age of 16 for using most social media platforms. This change is part of the Online Safety Amendment (Social Media Minimum Age) Act 2024. Its goal is to reduce online harm to young people by holding social media platforms more accountable for who uses their services.
Whether your child is already online or was hoping to join soon, this change will likely affect their digital life.
Please find bellow a fact sheet for parents regarding the Australian Government's social media ban for children 16 years and under. This information is provided by the Australian Government.
Have a great fortnight
Brad Hunt
Principal
