Maths - Area

In Mathematics, Year 2 have been learning about area and exploring different ways to measure and compare the amount of space covered by a surface.

Who do you think has the biggest shoeprint in the class? 

Working in groups, students investigated different ways to compare their shoeprints. Some groups measured the length and width of each print, while others got creative and tried standing on top of one another’s prints to see which was bigger!

We soon discovered that there was an even better way to compare them. By cutting out the shoeprints and superimposing them, we could clearly see which print covered the greatest area.

And the winner was… Tallulah!

Religion - The Parable of the Yeast

In Religion, we have been learning about the parables Jesus told and the messages they share about God’s Kingdom. We explored the Parable of the Yeast and learned how Jesus used yeast as an example of how the Kingdom of God can grow and spread, even when we cannot see it happening. To help us understand this parable, we made our own bread and observed how the yeast caused the dough to rise. It was a fun and hands-on way to connect our learning with the message of Jesus!

Have you ever heard the sounds of a forest in autumn?

Dogs scrunch the crunchy leaves and silenced people away. Birds chirping foolish songs, crunching delicious food. People's feet squelch while dogs bark loudly in the autumn forest. Branches crack as the squealing hare jumps on top of them. The forest is alive with noise.
