Work Experience and Disability Expo

This term,  Angus Clifford undertook work experience at GDP (Geelong Disabled People's Industries).  GDP in Geelong was a supportive and inclusive environment that accommodated Angus's unique abilities. The placement is designed to provide tailored learning experiences, ensuring that students can actively participate in economic and business-related tasks. The staff at GDP prioritise creating an accessible workspace, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging students to contribute meaningfully.

Similarly, at Sport First Corio, Thomas J, engaged in a work experience program that considers his individual strengths and challenges. The emphasis is on creating an inclusive atmosphere where students can develop retail skills, interact with customers, and be part of the daily operations.

Both placements aimed to empower students by providing not just a learning opportunity, but an environment that celebrates diversity and encourages their personal and professional growth.

Melbourne Disability Expo 2023

For my Professional Development I was fortunate to attend The Melbourne Disability Expo held in November, 2023 which served as a comprehensive platform for individuals with disabilities, their families, and caregivers. This inclusive event showcased a myriad of products, services and resources aimed at enhancing the quality of life for people with diverse abilities. Exhibitors from various sectors, including assistive technology, healthcare, education, and support services, gathered to present innovative solutions and foster connections within the disability community.

The Expo featured informative seminars, workshops, and interactive demonstrations, providing attendees with valuable insights and opportunities for skill development. With a focus on empowerment and inclusivity, the Melbourne Disability Expo emerged as a vital hub for networking, education, and discovering the latest advancements in disability support.

I would be happy to book the tickets for next year’s Expo in Geelong and go together with parents/carers to gather relevant information for your child's future career needs.
