Principal's Message

St Luke's... "nurturing faith filled, curious children to become creative contributors and innovative problem solvers for a changing world."

Dear Parents and Carers,

At St Luke’s, we have always been ambitious about what we want to achieve for our students. We set high expectations for ourselves as a school, identify where we need to improve, and put the work in to make that improvement happen.

Each year, we develop a School Improvement Plan that identifies the areas where we want to make the greatest difference to student learning, wellbeing and faith development. These priorities are informed by evidence, student achievement data, feedback from our community and what we know about effective teaching and learning.

The important part is what happens next.

We turn those goals into action. Our teachers work collaboratively, engage in professional learning, review student progress and adjust their teaching. We regularly evaluate our work to understand what is improving and where further attention is needed.

In 2026, our priorities have included:

  • Improving reading in Kindergarten to Year 4, with a focus on explicit teaching, understanding individual student needs and responding to student progress through research based teaching practices.
  • Strengthening writing in Years 5 to 12, developing students' ability to communicate their understanding clearly and confidently across their learning.
  • Improving teaching practice, through professional learning, coaching, assessment and feedback that helps students understand their next steps.

These priorities are part of our broader commitment to developing young people who are capable learners, confident in themselves, connected to their faith and ready to contribute to the world around them.

What I particularly value about St Luke’s is the willingness of our staff to continually improve. We have developed a culture where teachers examine evidence, challenge their own practice and work together to achieve better outcomes for students.

We are a school that sets goals, follows through and holds ourselves accountable for the results.

As we approach the end of 2026, we are reviewing the progress made against our priorities and using that evidence to inform our planning for 2027. There will always be more to do, and that is exactly why school improvement is an ongoing process.

Thank you for your continued partnership and trust in the work we do at St Luke’s. We share the same ambition: that every child continues to grow, learn and achieve their potential.
