From the Principal
February 26, 2026
This week we enjoyed our first Aussie of the Month assembly for the year, confidently led by our Vice Captains Grace and Jamie.
Congratulations to Hunter D (Year 6), who was awarded the Aussie of the Month for February. Hunter D (6G) is a well deserving recipient who consistently demonstrates our school values, always kind, always helpful, and always giving his best.

We also congratulated and presented badges to our newly elected Student Representative Council members, Active Travel representatives, and Waste Warriors. To find out who they are please visit the SRC/Active Travel and Sustainability page.
A highlight of the assembly was hearing from past POPS student Maddie B, now President of the PO Netball Club, who spoke to students about the importance of being involved in their community and the many benefits of connecting with local sporting clubs.
PARENTS' ASSOCIATION
The Parents’ Association has been busy preparing a wonderful range of events, and we’re grateful for their ongoing efforts to bring our community together. Pancake Day was a great success thanks to our many helpers, and the Cupcake Stall brought plenty of smiles. Thank you to our Year 5 parents for organising and supplying the treats.
Tomorrow night (Friday February 27) we look forward to our Welcome Back Evening from 5–7pm. Families can enjoy food trucks, a Lions Club sausage sizzle, CFA truck visits, and activities from local community groups. Our Year 6 students will also be offering coloured hair spray and temporary tattoos, and children can complete a fun passport challenge to earn a small prize. We hope to see many of you there, weather permitting.
Next Tuesday night March Tuesday 3, PA are hosting an online presentation by parent and psychologist Emma Rose Parsons on 'Overcoming Fear of Failure and Helping Our Kids Be Comfortable Being Uncomfortable'. Emma Rose offers practical, reassuring strategies for families. This free session will be held online, and bookings can be made via TryBooking: https://www.trybooking.com/DJTPS

STUDENT ACHIEVEMENTS
Congratulations to our swimming squad for representing POPS at the Ringwood District Finals. All students swam brilliantly and gave their very best.
A special congratulations to Lara S and Declan S, who both placed 2nd in their individual events and will now compete at the Division Swimming Carnival. Well done also to our 9/10 Girls Freestyle Relay Team (1st place) and our 12/13 Boys Freestyle Relay Team (2nd place). Both teams have qualified for Division level after outstanding performances.
To read about our super star swimmers and their peformances go to the Sports News page.
This week we’re highlighting our wonderful junior school teachers Mrs Allegretto and Miss Plumridge.
Please read about what our lovely little people have been doing and learning about in Foundation! There will some students from Foundation sharing this learning with the school community on Monday at assembly.
