Athletics Success Continues!

Our Lady's Primary School students have enjoyed another fantastic athletics season, with outstanding performances across both the Craigieburn South District and Woodlands Division Athletics Championships.

On Friday, the 28th August, 42 students represented our school at the Craigieburn South District Athletics Championships, held at the Meadowglen International Athletics Track in Epping. With great weather for most of the day, our students gave 100% in every event, whether they were running, jumping, or throwing. Just as impressive was the way they encouraged and supported one another throughout the competition, proudly representing Our Lady's Primary School with excellent sportsmanship and school spirit.

Their hard work and determination paid off, with 20 students qualifying for the Woodlands Division Athletics Championships.

On Thursday, the 3rd September, those 20 students returned to Meadowglen International Athletics Track to compete at the Woodlands Division Championships. Although the weather was very cold and extremely wet, our athletes embraced the challenge and produced some outstanding performances. There were many memorable moments throughout the day, including several personal bests, but perhaps the most special moment came when one of our students slowed down during a race to check on a competitor who had fallen. It was a wonderful reminder that kindness, compassion, and sportsmanship are just as important as winning.

We are incredibly proud to announce that five students have qualified for the Northern Metropolitan Region Athletics Championships:

Chloe Barnes (4C) – 1st Discus, 2nd 800m

Ruby Barbieri (5B) – 2nd 100m (Personal Best)

Lexi Mickelson (6A) – 2nd High Jump

Ryder Cardamone (6B) – 1st Discus, 1st Shot Put

Lilly Barnes (6C) – 1st Discus (Personal Best)

Congratulations to all 42 students who represented Our Lady's Primary School throughout the championships. You should all be incredibly proud of your effort, determination, resilience, and the outstanding way you represented our school both on and off the track.

A heartfelt thank you also goes to our wonderful parents for your continued support throughout the athletics season. Whether volunteering your time or cheering from the sidelines, your encouragement and assistance play a vital role in making these events such a success.

We wish our five regional qualifiers all the very best as they prepare to compete at the Northern Metropolitan Region Athletics Championships. We know you will continue to represent Our Lady's Primary School with pride.

Father's Day Morning and Stall

We would like to thank Mrs Christodoulou, Mrs Di Clemente, Mr Fox and Mrs Fazzari for helping out with our Father’s Day stall.  Also, thanks to Mr Danny, Mrs Murray, Miss Rita, Mrs Glouftsis and Mrs Mancuso for helping. 

Oliver

When I first arrived, we picked a spot to sit down with our dads. We started off by making fry bags where each fry described what our dads were. After we finished off the arts and crafts, we did our Father's Day dance, and we had a great time with our dads. As a welcome for coming, all the dads got a special cookie.

Jett

When my dad and I first got to my classroom, we sat at my table, and we had to say good morning to all the dads that came there. We started off with the Father's Day song, which was made and composed by Mrs B and Mr Lazarus.

Then Mrs Farrell, my teacher, said we could go outside to play with our dads before going back in to do our next activity. The activity was that we needed to create a chip bucket where we took some yellow paper strips and wrote on them what our dads' personality features are like. These represented the chips. We then gave our dads one of the chips to read out to the whole class. 

Finally, it was time for our dads to go home and do their work, but my dad works at this school as a P.E teacher. All the students call him Mr Whitty.

When it was time to go, my teacher gave me a cookie to give to my dad as a Father's Day gift, before he went to do his work. Overall, I would rate this Father's Day morning five stars and would recommend this again to other dads.

Term 3 Reflections

Mr Nario

Term 3 was a term filled with fun and lots of learning. I had a good time planning the mini fete with the Year 6s and also improving my relationships with my class. I also loved meeting the Essendon Bombers, and the Book Week performance was very memorable.

Manraj

This term was absolutely amazing, packed with exciting excursions and incursions. My favourite part was definitely the business incursion, where we played fun games while learning a lot about economics and how businesses run. Celebrating Father's Day was another highlight. It was awesome choosing gifts at the Father's Day stall and doing activities with our dads. Planning our Mini Fete has also been a lot of fun. Overall, this has been a really successful and joyful term!

Liam

This term was by far one of the best terms of my time at Our Lady's. It was filled with many awesome excursions and incursions like retreat day and the business incursion.I especially liked playing with my buddy and working together to create Father's Day cards for both of us. I can’t wait to see what is in store for us next term. I already know that we are goi ng to be doing our mini fete, since we have started that unit in maths and inquiry, but I want to know what else we are going to be doing in our last term of primary school.

Carys

This term was packed with lots of fun and interactive activities. I had lots of fun playing with my buddy because I got to learn how to take care of younger children. I also enjoyed being school captain because I got the opportunity to learn how to be responsible, respectful, kind and safe. My favourite thing about term 3 was making new friends. Making new friends is important because they help you through tough times and they support you when you need it. 

Mila

 This term has been a lot of fun and definitely memorable with the incursions , excursions and a lot more. I can't wait for the things we are doing next term, like the mini fete, more incursions and excursions, camp, and definitely getting ready for the Year Six graduation. Overall, I can't wait for what is in store in the future, and hopefully it is just as packed with more fun and joy.
