Learning and Teaching

Literacy is Buzzing Across the School!

Our Foundation to Year 2 learners are powering ahead with their Little Learners Love Literacy journeys, as well as bringing grammar and story to life using rich picture storybooks! Meanwhile, magic is happening in Years 3 to 6 as the students dive into their brand-new novels for the term. The energy and anticipation around opening a new book is absolute magic!

Be sure to ask your child what adventures they’re exploring in literacy this week—you won't want to miss their excitement!

Building Math Confidence and Success!

St Brigid’s is excited to continue, throughout Term 4, our engagement with MAPS (Mathematics Accelerated Program for Schools), sharpening our focus on boosting student outcomes in Number skills. While Year 2 remains at the heart of this program, we are expanding its impact across all year levels by continually enhancing our teachers' practice.

A key part of this professional growth includes teacher "Learning Walks” a collaborative process that allows staff to observe, reflect, and refine their teaching strategies to best support every child. Plus, our teachers are bringing math to life with dynamic, hands on activities designed to make learning engaging, interactive, and fun for all students!

Humanities Across Foundation to Year 6

From Foundation through to Year 6, our Humanities curriculum connects student learning across local connection, ancient histories, civics, and sustainability. In Foundation, students explore connection to Country and Place through local First Nations perspectives and stories. In Year 1, they investigate how geography, environment, and culture shape human history, focusing on Ancient Egypt. As they move into Year 2, students broaden their view to ancient societies in Mesopotamia and Egypt to understand how early rules, writing, and civilisations continue to influence life today. Through Years 3 and 4, learning moves into civic governance with the study of the history of democracy, citizen rights, and democratic participation. Finally, in Years 5 and 6, students apply these civic principles to contemporary environmental challenges, comparing resource use with sustainable First Nations practices to learn how active citizens make a positive impact today.

Partnering for Success: Staying Connected This Term!

Throughout the term, we have an array of exciting educational experiences planned to further spark your child’s engagement and passion for learning! To stay up to date, please keep an eye on Nforma for important notices, as well as Seesaw, our digital portfolio platform. These tools are fantastic windows into your child’s daily learning journey and serve as great conversation starters at home because we truly believe education is a partnership between school and home!

With thanks
