As always, we love catching up with news from our former Collegians.

Founder’s Day at the Mazenod Old Collegians’ Football Club

Our sincere thanks to our Old Boy, Craig Todd (MOC 1981), the President of our Mazenod Old Collegians’ Football Club (MOCFC), and to all the wonderful members of this fabulous football club, for their kind invitation for us to attend their Founder’s Day last Saturday, 23rd May. It was a fantastic day! Every time we venture down to the MOCFC, we experience immense joy. It is truly a family club which welcomes everyone into their midst. On this occasion, our Founder’s Day luncheon had a great Master of Ceremonies, Nick Parry (MOC 1996), and two wonderful speakers, our Old Boy, Michael Regan (MOC 2001), and the Senior Coach of the MOCFC, Andrew Pickering. Both men gave excellent talks, and both men extolled the role of the MOCFC in their lives. The luncheon and the entire Founder’s Day is always a magnificent day. It always fills us with joy to catch up with so many Old Boys, with their families, and with all the regular faces each year. Every time we visit the Club, there is a tangible spirit of family, of community and of inclusion.

This year, Craig Todd’s daughter, Annabelle Davies-Todd (Belle), who is one of the co-Captains of the Senior Women’s Football Team at MOCFC, produced an amazing video celebrating the meaning of Founder’s Day. It was extraordinary and literally brought tears to my eyes. Belle interviewed a variety of people involved with MOCFC, both past and present players, their families, coaches, volunteers, in fact, everyone who loves the MOCFC. Every person was effusive in affirming the importance of Founder’s Day for the Club, and everyone praised the friendships, community, values, sporting culture, and traditions of the MOCFC. Belle’s video captured the heart and spirit of Founder’s Day for the MOCFC! Congratulations, Belle! Stunning work!

Pastoral Care/Wellbeing

Both of us and our MOCA Committee are always available to chat, or to assist our Old Boys in their times of need. In recent weeks, we have been blessed to support our Old Collegians who are experiencing illness in their families, as well as, Old Collegians who have experienced the deaths of loved ones. We seek to support one another by our prayers, friendship, and actions.
