Dear Families,
Creating safe, inclusive learning environments are vital for allowing students to take risks and thrive in all aspects of their learning including academic and well being. Behaviour expectations are extremely important for creating positive environments. Over the past few weeks, students and staff have been reviewing our school values and behaviour expectations and exploring what are minor and major behaviours and appropriate consequences when expectations are not met. We are aiming for a shared understanding and a more consistent approach throughout the whole school.
First Eucharist
Congratulations to the Year Four students who received the Eucharist for the first time at the 6:00pm Parish mass on Saturday evening. We hope you find the Eucharist a source of nourishment throughout your life.
Parent & Guardian Online Event
The Navigating the Digital World Safely parent and guardian webinar was successfully delivered last Monday night.
To further boost engagement within your school community, we encourage you to share the rewatch link with parents and carers. The session provides practical, proactive guidance on key topics including online safety, digital wellbeing, social media, gaming and AI.

Padua Perseverance Award
Congratulations Indigo and Joe on being presented the Padua Perseverance Award for demonstrating perseverance and determination in your learning. Mr Sonny Voss, From Padua College, presented the awards at the last school assembly.
Reconciliation Week
We commissioned our FIRE Carrier Student Leaders on Wednesday. They have been conducting activities throughout the week. Their whole community activity is the Sea of Hearts Project. They are asking all families to decorate a heart and write on it what Reconciliation means to them. It could be one word or a sentence. Hearts were sent home this afternoon.
Community Fundraiser
One of our parents, Nat de Morton is off to Greece tp play in The Brolgas F40s basketball team at the FIBA Masters Open. The Brolgas are raising money for their trip by selling Grip Star Socks. An information sheet and order form will be sent home tomorrow with the eldest sibling, for those families who are interested.
Intergenerational Project at Rye Sands
Thank you to Mrs Jane Byrne for facilitating the mosaic project with our Year Four students and residents at the Rye Sands Aged Care Facility. Students and residents happily chatted as they worked on mosaic pavers and painting bird boxes for their Wellness garden.
St Joseph's Big Freeze Event
We will be supporting fundraising for MND research by holding a Big Freeze afternoon this Thursday. Students are asked to bring a gold coin donation and may wear a blue beanie or hat to school. Some selected staff and students will participate in an Ice Bucket Challenge.
Building Project Update
Progress has been slow on Stage Two with the program stopping until they found a resolution to an issue with the underground services. Work will recommence on this in the next few weeks. This will mean that it will not be ready late October as planned. Carpets, vinyl, doors being hung, acoustic panelling and joinery are being completed for Stage One. Electricians are swapping over the switchboard this coming Friday. It looks like the Prep and Year 1/2s will be back in their learning spaces at the beginning of next term.
Walk Safely to School
Thank you to the families and students who walked to school on Friday 22nd May. It was a wonderful turn out. It's wonderful to see more students riding to school and developing healthy activity habits.
School Closure Days
School will be closed this coming Friday as teachers participate in Religious Education professional learning with the staff of Our Lady of Fatima School in Rosebud. Monday is the King's Birthday public holiday and so St Joseph's will be closed.
This term will now finish on Thursday 25th June at 3:20pm rather than early on Friday as previously communicated. This is due to the school needing to find an extra Time in Lieu hours to meet conditions for the staff employment agreement.
