Student Legacy Day

On Monday, 28 April, I had the honour of attending the 93rd Students Legacy Day (https://www.shrine.org.au/melbourne-legacy-students-service)— an annual event where students from across Melbourne come together to commemorate the lives and sacrifices of the ANZACs.

I was fortunate to attend as one of ten Young Ambassadors of the Shrine of Remembrance, representing both Nossal High School and the Shrine's Youth Ambassador program.

The ceremony was touching, filled with stories of courageous men and women who served our country, many of whom were not much older than us, full of dreams and longing for adventure, yet were faced with the harsh realities of war.

Their stories are a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made in the name of peace and freedom.

The event was supported by many schools, including, Melbourne High School and The MacRobertson Girls’ High School, whose students contributed to the band and choir that accompanied the ceremony.

Cadets formed a respectful guard of honour, and schools were invited to lay floral wreaths as a tribute.

I am incredibly proud to have been part of such a significant event that honours the ANZAC spirit and helps ensure their legacy continues to live on through us.
