Student Futures

From the Head of VCE
Term 2 is now underway, and it has been great to see students return with focus and purpose. This is a key term for our senior students, with a number of important events and opportunities that support future planning, subject selection, and overall VCE success.
Year 10 students will begin the term with Career Profiling Day on 28 April, helping them gain a clearer understanding of their strengths, interests, and possible career pathways. This is followed by the Tomorrow Bound Careers Expo on 21 May, which offers valuable insight into a wide range of post-school options.
A significant focus later in the term will be the Year 11 (2027) VCE Subject Selection Interviews, running from 21 May to 31 July. These conversations are an important part of the subject selection process, ensuring students make informed and considered choices. Families are strongly encouraged to be involved and support students during this time. Details on booking these interviews will be provided in the middle of May.
For current VCE students, an important date to note is the General Achievement Test (GAT) on 16 June. All Year 11 and 12 students studying a Unit 3/4 subject are required to sit the GAT, which plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy and fairness of VCE results. Further information about the GAT is included below.
Term 2 is always a busy and productive period. Students are encouraged to stay organised, seek support where needed, and take full advantage of the opportunities available. We thank families for their ongoing support and look forward to a successful term ahead.
Regards,
Mr Langley, Mr Wiese and Mrs Picot

General Achievement Test
The General Achievement Test (GAT) will be held in the Girton Gymnasium on 16 June 26.
The GAT is a pen-and-paper test of general knowledge and skills taken by students in the course of completing their senior secondary studies.
The GAT plays an important role in the quality assurance of VCE assessments and also provides students with an opportunity to demonstrate they meet the Victorian Literacy and Numeracy Standards expected at a senior secondary level. No special study is needed. Past study of subjects like English, Mathematics, Science and History prepares students for the GAT by building their general knowledge and skills in writing, numeracy and reasoning.
