Get involved!

Staying connected to school life is one of the most powerful ways families can support their children’s learning and wellbeing. Whether you can offer a little time, lend your skills, or contribute to a worthwhile cause, every involvement makes a difference. There are many ways to get involved and be an active part of our vibrant school community.
Donations needed: plastic spoons and newspaper!
Year 10 student Aarya Sapehiyia is on the hunt for plastic spoons and newspaper for an art project. If you have any spare, please drop them off at Reception on the Senior School campus. Your spoons will be transformed into something spectacular so watch this space to see her creative vision come to life!
Go Blue to end bullying: Girton students unite for ‘Do it for Dolly Day’
On Friday 8 May, Girton will go blue to end Bullying as part of Do it for Dolly Day. On the day, students will be encouraged to show their support by wearing their PE uniform to school, with a gold coin donation contributing to the cause. The initiative aims to raise awareness about the importance of kindness, inclusion and standing up against bullying, values that align with our own values, especially Compassion and Connection.
In addition, a range of fun activities will be available to further engage students and boost fundraising efforts. Students can test their luck with a “Guess the Lollies” competition or add a splash of colour to their day with blue hair paint, both available for a gold coin donation.
Do it for Dolly Day honours the memory of Dolly Everett and promotes a powerful message: be kind and speak even if your voice shakes. Events like this spark important conversations among students about respect, empathy and the impact of their actions on others.
All funds raised help Dolly’s Dream provide vital programs and support services, including 24/7 guidance, school workshops, and resources that give families, schools, and communities the tools to prevent bullying and promote kindness.
Every contribution makes a difference. If you would like to make a donation please use the link below and show support for a kinder, safer future for all young people.
Volunteer: Secondhand uniform shop
Did you know the Second-Hand Uniform Shop (SHUS) is open every Tuesday and Friday morning from 8:15 to 9:00am?
Located in Girton House on the Junior School campus, the Second-hand Uniform Shop offers a great way to buy and donate quality second-hand Girton uniforms.
We’re currently looking for volunteers from both the Junior School and Senior School communities to help run the shop. It’s a great opportunity to meet other families, support the school, and give back in a meaningful way.
If you're available on a Tuesday or Friday morning and would like to get involved, please sign up here: volunteersignup.org/HH7EC.
Thank you for your support!
Warm regards,
Alicia Stroud

How families can help
Throughout the year we'll be seeking donations to support various GCAG initiatives. First up is National Sorry Day and Reconciliation Week from 26 May to 3 June. We have several activities planned, including a community sausage sizzle. All proceeds raised go to the Indigenous Literacy Foundation.
If you’re able to donate bread, sausages, halal sausages, sauces, serviettes or soft drink, we would be incredibly grateful. Please get in touch with Mrs Melinda Naughton if you can assist.
