The 7/8 Team would like to welcome back the learning community to Term 4. Year 7 and 8 have had a busy term already.

Year 8 Camp

On the first day of Term 4, 60 Year 8 students ventured off to Karoonda Park, near Gelantipy in the Victorian High Country. Students had the opportunity to experience unique activities such as cave tours, horse riding, white water rafting and many more. We are extremely impressed with the amount of resilience these students showed over the week.

Around the Classes

Art

In Year 7 Art, students have been learning about lino printing. They have looked at famous artworks and used this as inspiration to design, cut and print their own artworks.

English

In Year 7 English, students are studying ‘film as text’, watching various short films and responding to them. At Year 8, students are studying Creative Writing and developing folios of their creative pieces.

Physical Education

In PE this semester, students in both Year 7 and 8 have been going to the Latrobe Leisure Centre for swimming. Students learn about water safety and rescue, as well as improving their swimming ability. Swimming is a compulsory element of the curriculum, and any issues can be discussed with the PE teacher or Team Leader.

Humanities

In Year 8 Humanities, students have been studying Australia’s system of government, along with the purpose and features of the Constitution. In the coming weeks, Students will explore the distinction between rules and laws, deepen their understanding of various types of laws and the process by which laws are created.

Live4Life

In Term 4, students in Year 8 will have the Live4Life curriculum delivered to them. Live4Life communities deliver Teen and accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid training in schools and the wider community, create local partnerships to lead conversations about mental health that reduce stigma, and promote young leaders as mental health ambassadors.
