Term 4 is always a busy time and this year is no exception. Families are encouraged to keep a close eye on the calendar posted on Compass for the various days in which students have alternate activities or student free days occurring.
Our transition program for next year’s Year 7s has already begun and we were pleased to welcome our first groups in over the last two weeks to participate in additional transition sessions. These continue over the coming weeks in preparation for Orientation in December. This year, our Orientation will look slightly different. While we continue to run a three-day Orientation program, this year we will have all students on site for Friday 6th December, and will welcome only the 2025 Year 7s on site to become acclimatised to secondary school on Monday the 9th December and Tuesday 10th December. This is a great opportunity for the new students to get used to the school without the overwhelming nature of having a full school in attendance. 2025 Year 8-10 will be back on Wednesday, 11th December for our end-of-year activities, beginning with our annual trip to Gumbuya World on that day.
Alongside the planning of our 2025 transitions, we are pleased to have finalised our staff leaders for 2025 who are already beginning their work to prepare students for next year. Our Team Leaders for 2025 are as follows:
Year 7: Patrick McGrath
Year 8: Jeff Derkacs
Year 9: Ross Johnson
Year 10: Sheryl Tangi
Daniel Murphy will continue as Assistant Principal, but will move into a role supporting all year levels and students rather than a strict focus on Year 7 and 8. Sarah Eccles also continues at Morwell as an Assistant Principal supporting the College’s work in Disability Inclusion. Also supporting the Campus and College’s growth and development are a team of specialist teachers:
Denise Cairnduff: Disability Inclusion
Alanah Andrews: School Improvement
Karen Anders: School Improvement
The College has invested significantly in ensuring that the right leaders are in place to help your children engage in schooling and develop into the best young adults with the greatest opportunities for future success possible.
I encourage you to contact both the 2024 and 2025 Team Leaders to discuss any concerns you may have relating to helping your child achieve their best this year and next. We are all here to help.
Mr Dan Swallow
Morwell Campus Principal
