Sustainability

We are encouraging all students and staff to participate in our upcoming Nude Food Day, where members of our whole school are asked to bring food items free of single-use packaging.

Did you know?

  • There will be more plastic in our oceans than fish by 2050.
  • More than 40 percent of plastic is used just once before it is thrown away.

Australia is one of the highest producers of waste per person in the western world. The average student’s lunch generates a total of 3kg of waste per school year (1). With a current student population of 747 students at Trinity College, that’s 2,241kg of waste per school year, without even including staff contributions. We have such an opportunity to decrease the amount of waste that we produce simply by packing one less piece of single-use plastic in our lunch box or, better still, strive for more sustainable habits when choosing food items and opting for re-usable options.
