Foundation Fun!

Foundation students recently had their first incursion to launch our History unit on “Past and Present.” Through a fun, time-travelling play-based experience, students explored how toys from the past connect to the toys they know today. They discovered how toys have changed over time by learning about their movements, cultural significance, and the different times in history they came from. This hands-on incursion helped students understand that the past, present, and future are all connected.

Students rotated through several engaging activity tables. At the Imagination station, they dressed up, used different voices, and created their own characters and storylines. At the Skills table, students worked through puzzles, games, and brainteasers, practising patience and problem-solving with a positive “I can” attitude. The Up and About activities encouraged students to jump, hop, balance, and skip while trying toys enjoyed by previous generations. Finally, at the Construction table, students used a variety of building toys to design and create their own unique projects. 

It was a wonderful way to introduce our History learning while encouraging creativity, collaboration, and curiosity. 🎲✨
