RECONCILIATION - Family Faith Sharing Afternoon

On Tuesday afternoon, our Year 2 and some year 4 students, welcomed their families to St Patrick’s for our Sacrament of Reconciliation Family Faith Sharing Afternoon. It was a wonderful opportunity for students to share their learning and reflect on the importance of saying sorry, offering forgiveness and making positive choices in preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Students confidently shared their understanding of the four stages of forgiveness: admittance, saying sorry, forgiveness and taking action. They explained how recognising when we have done something wrong, sincerely apologising, accepting forgiveness and making an effort to put things right can help us heal relationships and become more like Jesus.

Through the Bible stories of The Forgiving Father and Zacchaeus, students demonstrated their growing understanding of God’s unconditional love, mercy and forgiveness. They reflected on the father’s joyful welcome of his son and how Zacchaeus showed he was truly sorry by taking action to make things right with the people he had hurt.

It was wonderful to see students sharing their learning with such confidence and enthusiasm, while families actively participated and supported their children’s faith journey. Particularly heartening was the strong attendance of families whose children are not receiving the Sacrament this year. Their participation was a beautiful reminder that Jesus’ message of love, mercy and forgiveness is for everyone, and that we are all called to follow His example by building loving, compassionate and forgiving relationships.

We are grateful to all the families who attended and helped make the afternoon such a meaningful celebration of learning, faith and community.

As our  students prepare for the Sacrament of Reconciliation next week, we hope they continue to remember that God always loves us, welcomes us back when we are sorry, and helps us to make better choices and begin again.

INVITATION

Families and friends are warmly invited to join us in the church on Monday 26 October at 2:40 pm as we come together as a school community to pray the Holy Rosary in honour of Our Lady during this special month dedicated to the Rosary. This is a wonderful opportunity to pause, pray and reflect together, asking Mary to guide us closer to her Son, Jesus. All are welcome!
