Library News

There are some very exciting things on the horizon coming to the library in term 3. Ooh, where to start. How about the beginning then.

We are about to head into a new Build Your Fantasy World writing workshop. A new group of budding fantasy fiction writers are about to embark on a quest of greatness. Over the course of the term we will discover new worlds and create characters who will amaze us with their adventures, cunning, and heroism. This will culminate in the creation of a zine for all to read and enjoy.

Next up is the biggest week of the year for the Library. Yes, you guessed it, it’s Book Week! From the 24th - 28th of August, we here at CHS will be celebrating all things books. There will be fun activities each day of the week for students (and staff) to participate in, with a Book Character Dress Up Day on Thursday 27th. So start thinking about who you will be on the day. Prizes for Best Costume and an overall prize at the end of the week for the winner of Book Week. To the Cat Cave for this Librarian to find a new and crazy costume! Will it outdo some of the costumes from previous years? Who knows? Who cares! It’s fun to dress up!

Do you have any boardgames, chess sets, jigsaw puzzles which have been sitting dejected in a dark and lonely cupboard for years? We are always on the lookout for new additions to the library for recess and lunch enjoyment in term 3. Our only stipulation is that all pieces are included.

So, what has the Librarian been reading lately, you ask? Well, I have just finished two books, both very different from each other, but equally enjoyable.

First is The Informant by Christine Gregory. This is the follow up book of The Community (loved this as well).

Second is Shadow Reaper by Lynette Noni. Book 1 of her new duology. Downside to this book? I have to wait another year before the second book is released.

Now, back to that 800 page book…..
