Parkhill Policy Update

By Michelle Smith

Policy update, May 2026

Policy committee met in May to review the following policies: Curriculum Framework, Homework and Personal Property. Student Dress Code finished consultation, and the Procurement policy, which is a department policy, was checked for any significant updates.

  • The Curriculum Framework policy shows how curriculum is organised for teaching at Parkhill. This broad policy outlines the main curriculum areas, pedagogy, assessment and reporting to clarify our processes.
  • The Homework policy shows expectations for students, parents and teachers about what homework should be and details our minimum requirements. At Parkhill we aim to have a balanced policy with homework; balancing a busy home life along with supporting educational goals.
  • Our Personal Property policy is a local policy that essentially reinforces personal responsibility. Any personal items brought are not the responsibility of the school. From the policy: ‘Parkhill Primary School does not take responsibility for items of personal property that are lost, stolen or damaged at school or during school activities.
  • The Student Dress Code policy has been in consultation for a few months and has been approved. This accepts the general standard for our uniform and expectations for student appearance, including jewellery, nail polish and hair accessories.
  • The Procurement policy is a purchasing policy for goods and services rendered for the school. It promotes the Department goals of value for money, probity, accountability and capability. Parkhill follows Department policy to meet the integrity requirements of the public sector. There are tools available for staff that provide guidance with procurement activities.
