Term 1 Information
Term 1 co-curricular sport has begun with many students enjoying their first game last week. This term we have 29 teams competing in Touch Football, Basketball, Tennis, and Volleyball, plus many Rowing crews and Aerobics teams. It has also been wonderful to see so many students attending swimming, athletics, and the strength and conditioning sessions.
Just a reminder that you can locate all Term 1 team lists, venue maps, games fixtures, training information and results on Loreto Connect in the Senior Sport section. You can also access training and game details on the Loreto Connect App by clicking on the sport tile.

Rowing
We are excited to be hosting the 2025 Head of the River on Saturday 15 March. This highly anticipated event is a highlight of the rowing calendar, and we invite our entire school community to get involved. Whether it's volunteering in various roles to help the day run smoothly or joining the crowd on the shore to cheer on our rowers, your support will make a world of difference. Let’s come together to celebrate the hard work, determination, and team spirit of our athletes!
If you have any questions about co-curricular sport, please do not hesitate to contact me Sophie.Hage@loreto.sa.edu.au
We wish Tilda Pelham all the best as she represents at the U16 Hockey Nationals in Adelaide from March 31 to April 7. Good luck, Tilda!

Year 12 Sports Studies Sets Sail at West Beach
On Monday the 17th of February seven Year 12 Sports Studies students embarked on their first sailing session at West Beach, diving into an exciting new challenge on the water. With clear skies and a light breeze, they learned the basics of rigging, steering, and balancing their boats under the guidance of experienced instructors. Some took to it naturally, while others had a few wobbly moments, but all embraced the adventure with enthusiasm. By the end of the session, they had gained confidence and were eager for their next session. It was a fantastic start to their sailing journey and Year 12 Sports Studies.

Term 1 Sport Update
Our tennis teams took to the court last Friday for their first matches. Bella, Charlotte, Millie and Winifred had a strong win over Wilderness while debutants Alexis, Eliza, Eleanor and Rianna had an exciting tie with Pembroke.
Our Year 3/4 Loreto Slam Dunkers basketball team had their first game on Wednesday, winners 18-6 over Concordia. Bella and Helen shot the lights out, Ruby was busy dishing out assists while feisty defending from Eleanor and Georgia led to a number of turnovers.
Our touch football teams started their season on Tuesday with our Year 3/4s having an exciting 4-4 draw with Pembroke. Sofia showed some razzle dazzle, Sadie picked up the game quickly, Claire showed good passing skills while Estelle ran in a brilliant try to tie the game. Our Year 5s fought hard but went down in their matches. Isobel and Lucy ran in excellent tries.
On the netball court, our Loreto Silver netball team had a breakthrough win last Friday after a narrow loss the week before. Our Loreto White team endured a tough Term 4 with several close losses but have sprung to life in Term 1, winning three games in a row including one over the 1st placed team. Our Loreto Red team remains undefeated while this Friday features the Showdown between the Loreto Pink and Loreto Green Year 3 teams. Hoping for a tie!
Our aerobics teams are up and running and set for a big 2025.

Student Achievements and Performances
If your daughter is involved in a sport or activity outside of Loreto that you would like to share, please send details through to Ben.Johnswood@loreto.sa.edu.au.
This could be club sport or dance, calisthenics, gymnastics, swimming, chess, surf lifesaving, horse riding, athletics, surfing, cycling, skateboarding, taekwondo, Lego building… basically any activity you can think of! We would love to be able to recognise their performances in our newsletter. It’s also great for other girls to see all the different activities that are out there. They might see something they’d like to try.
