Barwon Water Incursion Year 1

Last week, our Year 1 students enjoyed a visit from Fernando at Barwon Water, who taught us all about the journey of water. Students learnt where our water comes from, how it is cleaned before it reaches our taps, and why it is important to use water wisely. The interactive activities kept everyone engaged, and students loved sharing ideas about how they can help conserve water at home and at school. A big thank you to Fernando and Barwon Water for such an informative and enjoyable learning experience!

Below are some Year 1 students sharing their accounts of the Barwon Water Incursion.

Today, Fernando came to Ocean Grove Primary School to teach us about the water cycle and how to save water. He said to have a shower for only 2 minutes.

On Thursday, Fernando from Barwon Water came to visit and taught us about the water cycle. He taught me that you should turn off the taps and have a short shower. You should press the short flush on the toilet. The water comes from a big filter at a reservoir. It cleans the water so we can drink it.

Today, Fernando from Barwon Water was talking about water. He talked about the water cycle. It goes from the beach water into the clouds, and the drops get bigger, and then it rains, and then it starts over again. He also spoke about pipes and the different types of pipes needed. Like rubber pipes for big cities and concrete pipes for parks.
