Principal Message

Dear Families,

As we move through another busy term, I’d like to thank our wonderful students, families and staff for the positive spirit they bring to our school each day. Ocean Grove Primary School continues to thrive because of the strong partnerships we share, and also our collective commitment to ensuring every child feels valued, supported and inspired to learn!

MR McCUMBER – Mr Mc is recovering well after his procedure (knee operation) last Thursday. We wish him well in his recovery and hope he is resting.

MOVIE NIGHT – What a great success the movie night was. A very big thank you to Steph King and committee for the planning and preparation that went into the event. Approximately 350 people attended the evening. Another thank you to our sponsors – The Groove Café.

YEAR 6 CAMP – By all accounts, everyone (including the parents) is having a fabulous time at Camp Howqua. A fun filled day at Mount Buller yesterday and loads of fun activities back at camp has enabled an amazing experience for everyone. A very special thank you to the volunteer parents for helping to make it all happen.

CLASSROOM HELPER PROGRAM – Thank you to those people who attended the program this afternoon. Ocean Grove Primary School values the help and support from our volunteers. The Child Safe Standards are an integral part of this process and help to ensure compliance in regard to everyone’s roles, responsibilities and overall safety. Thank you to all participants. We welcome your support. Please note that there is another session happening on Thursday 13th August @ 9am.

ANDY McNEILLY – Have a great trip, Andy! We wish you well on your adventures and will no doubt see you when you return in Term 4. Thank you for organising the community information session and staff session, with Justin Coulson on Monday. The theme of ‘resilience’ was both insightful and motivating. Andy’s last day will be this Friday.

TRADING – Whether it’s football cards or ooshies, Ocean Grove Primary School stipulates strict guidelines for trading between students. Please see the image below for trading requirements. The trading agreement processes help to provide age appropriate fairness amongst our students. Thank you for supporting the trading agreement. Please contact your child’s teacher if you would like a copy.

E-WASTE WEEK – A reminder that collection day will be this Friday. Families are welcome to bring items to school throughout this week.

SCHOOL UNIFORM - Wearing the OGPS uniform promotes equality, builds school identity and helps to create an inclusive environment and culture. We encourage our students to wear their full school uniform at school please.

GARDEN AND GROUNDS – We have a very dedicated and driven group of parents who work tirelessly in the grounds and garden. I hope everyone can manage to take a moment as they walk through the school to observe some of the incredible work and value adding this group have done. It is super impressive and we are all extremely grateful.

YEAR 5 SWIMMING – For those of us who like to plan ahead, a reminder that the Year 5 swimming program commences on Monday 17th August.

Have a great week,

Kristy Hannan-Cuthbertson
