Celebrating Book Week
One of the highlights of last week was our wonderful Book Week celebration. Across the school, students and staff embraced the joy of books, stories and much-loved characters through a range of engaging activities.
It was fantastic to see so many creative costumes and the enthusiasm with which our students participated. Congratulations to all our best-dressed and colouring competition prize winners.

Book Week is always a special event at Monash SDS. Stories provide meaningful opportunities for our students to develop communication, imagination, comprehension and shared enjoyment in ways that are accessible and engaging for every learner. Thank you to our staff for making the week such a positive and memorable experience.
Staff Appreciation Morning Tea
Last week, we were also treated to our annual Staff Appreciation Morning Tea, lovingly organised by our parent group and generously provided by our wider school community of parents and carers.
This has become a much-loved event that our staff look forward to each year, and our families truly outdid themselves. The generosity, care and effort behind the incredible selection of food made everyone feel enormously valued and appreciated.
On behalf of all our staff, I extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents who came to school to arrange and set up the morning tea, and to every family who contributed food. Your kindness was a beautiful reminder of the strong and supportive community we are so fortunate to have at Monash SDS.
Our staff give so much of themselves each day to support our students, and it was very special to see their commitment recognised in such a thoughtful way. Please see the separate post for photographs from the morning tea.
Father’s Day Breakfast
Yesterday morning, we were delighted to welcome fathers, grandfathers and other important people in our students’ lives to our Father’s Day Breakfast.
It was a lovely opportunity for families to spend time together and connect with our school community. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to the staff who helped organise and support this special event. We hope all the fathers and important people in our students’ lives have a wonderful Father’s Day on Sunday.
Parent/Carer Opinion Survey—your voice matters
A reminder that the 2026 Parent/Carer Opinion Survey is currently open. So far, only 5% of our school community has completed the survey, and we would really value hearing from many more of our families.
Your feedback helps us understand what we are doing well and where we can continue to improve. A higher response rate will give us a more representative picture of the experiences and views of families across our school.
The survey is confidential and remains open until Friday 18 September. Families can access it using the survey link and PIN previously provided. I strongly encourage you to take a few minutes to complete it—your feedback is important and directly supports our ongoing school improvement.
Thank you to our students, staff, families and parent group for another joyful fortnight. These celebrations reflect the warmth, partnership and genuine sense of community that make Monash SDS such a special place.
