What’s Been Happening

Lat Friday the Year 9s had a Career Explorer Day at Holmesglen TAFE. Students took part in one of three workshop-based programs at either the Chadstone or Moorabbin campus.

For the Construction Essentials program students spent the day in the trade workshop undertaking projects in tiling, painting and bricklaying. For Renewable Energy students wired, tested and powered a household lighting circuit, then ran it from the sun. The final program was Digital Technology with workshops on cyber security and game development.

This was a great the opportunity for students to see what a TAFE is like and see what courses they offer. To use the facilities and be taught by actual Holmesglen trainers through hands-on experiences. The middle school years are about exposing students to a range of career experiences and allowing them to explore different things and discover the many options available.

La Trobe Bundoora (Melbourne) Campus – Talk & Tours 

This is an excellent opportunity for those students who missed out on the Open Day. Tours depart at 10.00am and 12.00pm and take around 45 minutes. Afterwards, students who do not take the accommodation tour can sit down with a course advisor to chat about study options.

Students in Years 10 – 12 are invited to get some hands-on time with a study area they are interested in, explore something entirely new, and experience their future Uni campus.
