Term 1 Sun Protection Reminder

At this time of year in Victoria, the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) radiation can reach very high levels. That’s why reinforcing the need for sun protection during breaks, outdoor learning and school events is so important. 

Simple actions can make a big difference, including: 

• Reminding your child to wear their hat when outdoors.
• Encouraging your child to apply sunscreen before coming to school or heading outside.
• Talking with your child about modelling SunSmart behaviours, such as wearing sun-protective hats and clothing, reapplying sunscreen, and choosing shaded areas in the schoolyard.
• Supporting SunSmart clothing choices for swimming and sports carnivals, such as wearing a rash vest, T-shirt and shorts.
