Around the School

Investiture

The Investiture ceremony is a time-honoured tradition originating from the Hamilton High School that we proudly carry on with today.

Our Captains of School, House and Performing Arts along with our School leaders and SRC President and the Year 12 cohort undertook a pledge to acknowledge the responsibilities that their positions within the school entail and make a public commitment to always uphold the values of Baimbridge College – pride, courage and respect.

These statements of commitment have been spoken by generations of students and carry a significant responsibility of service and stewardship to all members of the school and wider community.

"“As a student leader of Baimbridge College,

I acknowledge the responsibilities that this position entails.

I shall uphold the honour and values of the school at all times.”

We would like to thank the parents that took time out of your busy schedules to attend the Investiture, every time you join us as we strengthen as a community.

The school was addressed by School Council President Mr Hany Samuel, School Captains Bella Perry & Olivia Bell, Guest Speaker, esteemed alumni and Hamilton Secondary College Captain 1992 Mr Josh Bell and Mr Price.

All speakers conveyed important messages about leadership and the different forms it takes and Josh spoke of the important life lessons he has learned from his time at school and reflected on where they impacted his life.  He also reitterated that your education at Baimbridge can take you anywhere you want it to with his main takeaway being that he wished he laughed with people more than at them.

After the Investiture we asked students what they took from the various speeches they listened to and responses like "Leadership isn't about wearing a badge", "Do the subject you want to do, not what everyone else is doing", "If you treat people badly now you will regret that later", "be kind" and  "It's important to step out of your comfort zone".  We are so pleased that the messages from all speakers were received loud and clear.  Everyone is a leader, and you can achieve anything you set your mind to and Hamilton is a great place to grow up and be educated.

Whole School Meet & Greet Evening

A few years back Mr Price made the statement "I do not want to go to a year 12 dinner and not know our families. We need to do something to bring our community together".  From this, the Meet & Greets were born.  We've had a few different versions of what that looks like, and have settled on having the whole school over for a barbie.

Whilst we acknowledge the crowd was predominantly Year 7 and we need to work on 8 - 12, those in attendance had a lovely time meeting teachers, classroom support and admin staff. It was a great relaxed vibe and we thoroughly enjoyed it from a school perspective.

If you have any feedback or ideas to boost the numbers please email us at baimbridge.co@education.vic.gov.au

Chinese New Year Celebrations

Our students recognised Chinese New Year, a celebration observed by millions of people around the world.

Students had the opportunity to learn about the traditions, history and cultural significance of the Lunar New Year. Activities included exploring the zodiac story, understanding the meaning behind red decorations and good fortune symbols, and sharing in cultural discussions.

Celebrations like this help broaden our students’ understanding of the world and strengthen respect for different cultures within our community.

We thank Mrs Wu and students who contributed to making the celebration meaningful and engaging.
