Dear Parents/Carers,
Mother’s Day Breakfast – Save the Date (May 8th)
We are looking forward to celebrating the wonderful mums and special women in our students’ lives at our upcoming Mother’s Day Breakfast on May 8th at 8am. This will be a lovely opportunity for families to come together, enjoy some breakfast and visit classrooms. See the invitation further in the newsletter.
A sincere thank you to Rachelle Neale for all of her work behind the scenes in helping to organise this special event. Her time, care and effort are greatly appreciated.
Further details regarding breakfast options will be shared with families shortly. We hope to see many of you there.
Please complete the survey in PAM if you intend to come to help with catering.
Lorne conference
Last week, I had the privilege of listening to Dr Justin Coulson speak at the Victorian Association of Catholic Primary School Principals Conference in Lorne. Dr Coulson shared valuable insights into the student motivation continuum, highlighting the importance of understanding what truly drives children to engage, persist and thrive in their learning. His message challenged educators and leaders to think deeply about how schools can foster belonging, autonomy and confidence in students. I encourage all parents to consider following or downloading Dr Justin Coulson’s Happy Families podcast. Dr Coulson shares practical, relatable and evidence-based advice on parenting, children’s behaviour, motivation, wellbeing and family life. His insights are easy to listen to and highly relevant for the challenges and joys of raising children today.
2027 Enrolments
If you have a child ready to begin school in 2027, we encourage you to start the enrolment process at Sacred Heart. Planning ahead helps us ensure a smooth and well-supported transition for every child and family. Our online Application for Enrolment is now available via the school website and provides all the information you need to get started.
We warmly invite current families to visit the Sacred Heart website and complete an application at your earliest convenience: https://www.shcolac.catholic.edu.au/application-for-enrolment
If you have any questions or would like further information, please don’t hesitate to contact the school office—we are always happy to assist.
Working Together Respectfully as a School Community
From time to time, issues may arise involving students at school. When this happens, we ask parents and carers to please direct any concerns through the school, rather than contacting other families directly. While these situations can understandably be upsetting, approaching the school first allows us to gather the full picture, support all students involved, and manage matters in a calm, fair and respectful way. This helps maintain positive relationships within our parent community and ensures concerns are addressed appropriately and with care.
End of Term 1
We have our last assembly for Term 1, all parents and carers are welcome to attend from 9:00am in the Multi-purpose room. Our Easter raffle will be drawn and I would like to thank Hannah Swanson and her team for all the time and effort they have put into organising the raffle.
Term 1 will finish this Thursday at 2:25pm. Children will also receive a hot dog and a drink for lunch on this day.
We will be conducting our Athletic Sports for Grades Foundation to Two here at school between 11:45am and 1:15pm on Thursday, so all these children must wear their Sports uniforms to school on Friday. Parents and grandparents are all welcome to attend.
All other children are invited to wear casual clothes on Thursday and donate a gold coin to our Project Compassion appeal.
I hope all families can enjoy some time together away from the routines that school life brings, and enjoy good health to make the most of this upcoming break.
School will resume on Monday, April 20th.
Kind regards,
Karl Dwyer
Principal
