Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships: Semester 1 Learning

This year, students have been engaging with the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) curriculum, which helps children build confidence, manage emotions and develop positive, respectful relationships.

Term 1 focused on emotional literacy—supporting students to recognise, understand and express their feelings. Across the school, this looked like:

  • Foundation–Year 1: Naming basic feelings and using simple calming strategies
  • Years 2–3: Exploring a wider range of emotions and understanding what triggers them
  • Years 4–6: Identifying complex emotions and practising thoughtful, respectful responses

Term 2 will build on this learning.

  • Foundation: Students will explore emotional regulation, using the Zones of Regulation to identify their feelings and practise strategies to return to a calm, ready‑to‑learn state.
  • Year 1: Identifying personal strengths and recognising how these help them learn and play positively with others
  • Year 2: Exploring strengths in themselves and their peers, and celebrating differences
  • Year 3: Learning how personal strengths support teamwork, friendships and problem‑solving
  • Year 4: Recognising cultural strengths and understanding how culture shapes identity
  • Year 5: Exploring how personal and cultural strengths influence the way we interact and build respectful relationships
  • Year 6: Reflecting on how strengths contribute to leadership, wellbeing and positive transitions to secondary school
