Principal's Report

Dear Parents and Carers, 

It was such an honour for our VM students to host the Vietnam Veterans Day Ceremony on Monday 18 August. Due to the media and publicity, Seymour College has been overwhelmed by the wider Victorian community, who have reached out to offer their congratulations and admiration for our students and staff on this magnificent initiative. It was, in fact, a privilege for Seymour College to be involved and assist our wonderful Vietnam Veterans in this important commemoration of our past.  

On Friday 22nd August, Seymour College staff, along with staff from other schools in the  Mitchell and Murrindindi Network, attended professional development at Wallan Primary School and Wallan Secondary College. The day began with a keynote presentation by Kylie Captain, a proud Gamilaroi author, educator, speaker, and Founder of Dream Big Education Wellbeing & Consulting. Kylie's presentation centred around sharing her personal and professional experiences through storytelling and education to create culturally safe spaces and embed reconciliation in authentic and impactful ways. Following this presentation, teachers had the opportunity to attend several workshops which are listed below. Overall, it was an excellent opportunity for teachers to engage in quality professional development and dialogue.
