For over 50 years, our Sydney Youth Orchestra community has been built on one simple truth: extraordinary things happen when passionate young musicians come together under the guidance of incredible mentors. Today, our alumni perform on the world's greatest stages - from Carnegie Hall to the Sydney Opera House. But their journey began right here, with that first audition, that first rehearsal, that first moment they discovered their musical family.
Now it's time to find our next cohort of musical adventurers
SYO 2026 auditions are officially open, and we need your help to ensure no talented young musician misses this opportunity to make their musical journey their very own kind of wonderful.
Who are we looking for?
Young musicians aged 5-24 who are ready to:
- Work with our incredible, supportive conductors
- Experience once-in-a-lifetime tours and camps that create lasting memories
- Learn from industry specialists who open doors to professional opportunities
- Perform breathtaking repertoire in Australia's most prestigious venues
- Join a musical fellowship that will support them throughout their journey

Auditions Q&A: 6:30pm Thursday, 7th August & 6:30pm 21st August
Applications Close: Thursday, 4th September, 2025
Audition Excerpts sent: Thursday, 11th September, 2025
Video Submissions Open: Thursday, 25th September 2025
Video Submissions Close: Thursday, 16th October, 2025
Offers & Scholarship Results Sent: Thursday, 18th December, 2025
