News from our Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back to the new school term. Everyone has returned very settled and ready to embrace their learning with enthusiasm and curiosity. It promises to be busy and filled with new experiences and opportunities for everyone!
Last week the staff engaged in a day of reflection on the Scriptures and 1st Century Palestine. This was led by Dr Dan White, who was previously the Executive Director of Sydney Catholic Schools for 10 years. He explored in depth the “honour and shame” culture in the Scriptures and the ‘counter cultural’ influence of ‘the person of Jesus’ on Jewish society. We also looked at a range of ‘higher order’ thinking strategies to enhance classroom pedagogy. We spent the day with our colleagues from St John Bosco Catholic Primary school iEngadine and worked collaboratively in small learning teams to ‘road test’ selected examples of quality pedagogical activities to use in our teaching in the classroom. The day was reflective, rich with deep learning and thoroughly enjoyed by all those present.
Thank you for making arrangements for your children on these days to enable the staff to engage in these quality professional learning experiences. I leave you with an extract of our Opening Prayer for the day:
Loving God,
As we gather today in Your presence, we pause to seek your wisdom in the sacred stillness of the desert - a place of silence, of searching, of encounter.
Just as You led Moses through the wilderness, and spoke to Elijah in the whispering wind, we come seeking Your voice in the quiet spaces of our hearts.
Let this day be a time of renewal.
May we be filled with the faith of those who walked before us,
and may we carry that faith into our classrooms, into our conversations,
and into the hearts of the children we teach.
Shape us, Lord, in the desert.
Speak to us in the silence.
And lead us, always, by Your light.
May this day renew our spirits, refresh our calling,
and remind us that even in the desert, You are near.
Amen.
