Stage 3 Excursion

Aboriginal Keeping Place

 By Isla and Eva

To start the day off we hopped on the bus as we heard the loud toot toot of the horn. We set off to our first stop at Guyra, to pick up Miss Levy.  After Miss Levy climbed aboard, we hurried on and finally arrived at the Aboriginal Keeping Place. We all jumped in excitement to see what they had organised for us.

At the Aboriginal Keeping Place, we got off the bus and split into two groups. We got to play cool aboriginal hunting games where we had to throw fake spears into a moving hula hoop. While we  also looked at all different hunting tools and how ochre was made, while some of us started to put it on our face (by grinding an ochre rock and a normal rock together) .

As the time passed by we had to move on to the next activity. We got to practice some aboriginal symbols and make our cool badges. Besides making our cool  vibrant artwork that means we traveled from school to the keeping place and back. Also seeing sacred sights of the markings of the tree art. We learnt that all trees have different meanings like where your country ends and my country  starts.

Sadly the day ended as we had to hop back on the bus. On the way back everyone started talking about how cool and amazing the wonderful day had been. We thank all the teachers, especially Mrs Adams for all her hard work for organising this amazing excursion.
