Book Week Parade

Wow! What an absolutely fantastic day we had!  So many wonderful costumes and the atmosphere was great. The children were so excited to show their costumes  off.

Thank you to everyone who made our Book Parade such a wonderful day! A special thanks to: 

- Children for your enthusiasm and creative spirit

- Our marvellous band and the SRC for officiating and keeping the event running smoothly!

- Parents and Families for your incredible support and fantastic costumes. 

- Staff for all your hard work behind the scenes and being a part of it. 

We appreciate all of your support in celebrating reading and making the day so memorable!

A special tribute must be made to Dolly Parton who began the Imagination Library. Founded in 1995, the Imagination Library is a global flagship book-gifting program created to inspire a lifelong love of reading. Inspired by her father’s inability to read or write, Parton initially launched the initiative to ensure every child in her home county of Sevier County, Tennessee, could own books regardless of their family's income. The non-profit mails a free, high-quality, age-appropriate book directly to registered children every month from birth until age five. Today, in partnership with local community organizations, the Imagination Library operates across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland—gifting over three million books each month and having distributed more than 300 million books to date.

 Author visit!

Bec Nanayakkara visited us yesterday and we loved listening to her ideas about writing stories. I think we might have a few budding authors in our midst.

Winning Books

We were excited to see so many of the books we loved win or receive an Honour Book. Many of the books didn't receive prizes, but they all made it to the shortlist. All these books are available at our school. We are using them in class time, so children are not yet able to borrow them, but they will be available soon.

We have so many new books covered and ready to borrow. Thank you to Mrs McCarthy who helped me cover the many, many books that we received as part of our commission from Book Fair.
