Head of Students News

Mr Phill Holding - Assistant Head of College – Students

Welcome Back – Start of Semester 2

As we head into Day 1, a warm welcome back to all students, staff and families as we begin Semester 2. There have certainly been a number of changes around the College, making this an exciting time for our community, and we are excited to see the Carrick building finally underway.

While there is plenty happening, from Tuesday, the College is operating as business as usual. Students are expected to be at school before 8:30am, ready to learn with the appropriate equipment and dressed in the correct uniform.

With Rugby League, Tennis and Basketball already underway, alongside preparations for the College Musical and a range of cultural activities, students are strongly encouraged to become involved in as many opportunities as they can. Semester 2 is also an important time to begin preparing early for upcoming assessments and examinations.

Our Year 12 students, in particular, are embarking on their final term of schooling, and they are encouraged to start strongly from Day 1, ensuring they make the most of every opportunity and attend carefully to all requirements in order to finish their school journey on a positive note.

Should students or families have any questions or require support, they are encouraged to contact their Head of House, who is well placed to assist in any way possible.

I wish all students, staff and families every success for a wonderful and rewarding term ahead. Thank you, and welcome back.

Important Notice – MCA 1 and MCA 2 Bus Services

Brisbane Bus Lines, the current provider of our MCA 1 and MCA 2 bus services, has transferred ownership to Kangaroo Bus Lines.

We do not expect any disruption to the MCA 1 and MCA 2 services because of this transition. However, please note the following:

  • The MCA 1 and MCA 2 buses are cashless services, and students are required to use their Student ID card when travelling.
  • If a student does not present a valid Student ID card, the bus driver will be required to manually search for the student's details before the student can board. Students will have access to the card reader to tap on and tap off only.
  • To help students board efficiently, and to keep services running on time, students are reminded to carry and use their Student ID card each time they travel.
  • Bus drivers will now wear Kangaroo Bus Lines uniforms rather than Brisbane Bus Lines uniforms. Over time, the branding on the side of the buses will also change to Kangaroo Bus Lines. Please remind your son to identify his bus by checking the electronic destination sign in the windscreen before boarding.
